PATRIOTIC COMMUNITY

Wendy Heacock has been an extremely loyal employee of our company for over 25 years. She has always displayed a positive attitude and worked tirelessly to promote the company. Over the years she has been a constant source of inspiration to her fellow employees and to her customers. |
In 2000 Wendy was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. Her mother had passed away from Ovarian Cancer at a very young age. Wendy was always on the lookout for signs of the disease so that she could catch it at an early stage. For a few months Wendy didn’t feel well. She had ultrasounds which came back normal. But, Wendy knew that something was wrong. Even though her insurance refused to pay for any more ultrasounds, she had another one. And, of course, the cancer was discovered. |
Wendy was given her options and chose the toughest form of chemotherapy known at that time. She was in the hospital more days than she was out of it for a year. During that time, Wendy made a commitment. If she survived, she would dedicate her life to finding a cure. |
Besides working her full time job for us, every night she makes beautiful jewelry. She then sells it and turns all of the money over to the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation where she is now on the board of directors. The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation dedicates itself to finding a cure. They donate the money they raise to hospital labs that are searching for a cure. |
We, The Flag Store, have made a commitment to the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation in honor of Wendy. We are donating a portion of each order that has a house or garden flag on it to their organization. |
The Flag Store would like to thank all of our customers who have purchased our flags for helping us to donate to this foundation and joining in the fight to find a cure. Your business is greatly appreciated by many. |

The Flag Store opened to honor all of the service men and women who so proudly protect the people of the USA with their dedication to freedom. Over the years many of our family members have served in all of the branches of the military. We have dedicated our store to carry only US flags made in the USA. It is just a simple act on our part to show our support for the heroes of America. |

Sometimes you just feel like you get lucky. That’s how we felt when a man from Allentown, PA. Mark Sterner called us to say that he wanted to donate flags from all of the countries that were being trained by our National Military Academy of Afghanistan to fight the War on Terror.

The flags on the quad at the Academy when it was first opened were now tattered from the heavy winds in Afghanistan. US Army LTC. David A. Jones contacted his friend Mark and mentioned to him that they needed new flags for the ceremony being held for the first graduating class of the Academy in October 2008. |
Mark called us. We volunteered to partner with him. With the quick service of Annin and Company, we managed to get the flags to Afghanistan in short order. |
Our flags being flown for the first graduating class at the Academy were a source of great pride for everyone at The Flag Store. |

Being the spouse, parent, sibling or grandparent of a person in the military allows you the privilege of consistently boasting about that person no matter what role he or she may fill in our lives.

That being said, as an employee of The Flag Store, I have been given the opportunity to tell you how my son has become a part of The Flag Store lore. |
My name is Denise Hyde and my oldest son Ron Trimner has been in the Navy since 1992 and is currently serving as a Chief Petty Officer stationed in Patuxent River, MD. Fortunately throughout most of his career, he has been stationed reasonably close to us at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with a short stint in Lemoore, California. |
His duties in the Navy have been as an Aviations Electronics Technician. When people look at me quizzically when I say that, I simply say he was responsible for the maintenance of the electronic, computer, and weapon control systems on the F-14 Tomcat until they were retired and then moved on to the F-18 Super Hornet. He is currently working as a maintenance manager at an avionics component repair facility. |
Because of this job when he deploys, the duration is approximately six months and always onboard an aircraft carrier. During his time in the Navy he has been on four carriers including the USS John F. Kennedy, the USS Enterprise, the USS Nimitz, and most currently he has made two deployments on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. One of my favorite boasts is the fact that he was serving on the USS Enterprise which was policing the Arabian Sea and was sent immediately to Afghanistan when our country suffered the unfortunate disaster of September 11, 2001. |
Because of Ron’s duties working on the F-18 Super Hornet he has a close relationship with the pilots of the aircraft, and during his six month deployment on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower from January to July of 2009 he was given the opportunity to have an American flag flown onboard one of the aircraft as it was flown on a tactical mission over Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. His first thought was to contact me at work and ask if the owner of The Flag Store would like to have such a flag to display in her store. She did and was gracious enough to not only send one for herself but also one for him to keep. |
We at The Flag Store now have this flag proudly displayed in a case along with a picture of the aircraft carrying the two flags with the actual flags prominently visible on the dashboard of the jet through the windscreen. These two items and my son have now become a part of The Flag Store lore and have also been piled onto my boasting rights as a military parent. |
